2019 marks the eighth year for the Blood, Sweat, & Tears 5-Miler and 5-K. It was established in 2012 for one purpose; to help fund a cure for blood cancer. We have lost too many adults and children to these horrible diseases. Enough is enough. This event is for them. We run for them. We run for a cure.
Our first seven years have exceeded our expectations. We get a nice turnout of runners and walkers,
beautiful weather and lots of great food, fun and fellowship. Over the last seven years, we have been able to raise thousands of dollars for the Central PA Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society® and over $23,000 for the Emily Whitehead Foundation.
Here is a slight preview of what you can expect in 2019:
You can do the five mile course which is on a combination of back country roads (3 miles) and the local rails to trail course (2 miles). Or you can do the 5-K course which starts on the public road and finishes on the rails to trails course. If you are really motivated, you can do both!
This is a timed event and police supported - There is a water stop for both courses and free drinks at the finish line. All registered runners get a goodie bag and the official BST t-shirt. After the run, there is a bake sale, a prize drawing for great items, a gift basket sale, vendors to visit and a bounce house and a mobile rock climbing wall. A coffee truck and a sub sale will also be available.
